UBL - Buccaneers vs UL Bohs

At a very windy and overcast Dubarry Park, Athlone, it was raining tries with 5 unanswered beauties seeing our Robins to victory in this seasons penultimate match. And what an important win it was, securing our status in Division 1B next season ! Playing into the strong wind in the first half it was important that we played from minute one and not allow Buccs to dominate. It was obvious from the start that our boys were primed, hungry and ready for action. In addition all the hard work was suddenly evident with discipline in defence and the handling in attack was at times superb.

UBL - UL Bohs vs Shannon

Our seniors played Shannon RFC in Thomond Park, last night, but unfortunately, failed to get any points from the match.
Playing with a strong breeze in the first half, we started very well. We enjoyed nearly all the possession in the first quarter, and in the 8th minute, David Johnston crossed for a try, after Mossie Lawler and Finbar Aherne handled. We continued to control matters, but gradually Shannon eased into the game. They scored three tries in 10minutes, and converted twice, to leave the score 19-7, approaching half time. Adrian Enright, who had come on for the injured Shane Airey, was at the end of lovely move, touched down, and David Johnston converted. Half time score was 14-19 to Shannon.
The second half was a very physical affair, and both sides had to defend for long periods. Shannon eventually broke through our defence, and Richie Mullane scored a try in the 61st min. They added the extra points, and the score was 14-26. Try as we did , we just could'nt bridge the gap.
Eoin Sweeney was injured during the second half, and was taken to hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery.
